Well, that was simultaneously hilarious and disappointing.
I went in for my first appointment yesterday and I was SO nervous that my pulse rate was through the roof.
My doctor walks in and says "Ok, I'm going to need you to pee in this cup for me and I'll be back in with the results."
I thought that was a bit weird... but I'm no obstetrician, so I didn't say anything.
15 minutes later she walks into the room and says "Congratulations, you're definitely pregnant!"
I said "Ok, can you tell me exactly how far along I am or if everything is ok? That's it?!"
She stared at me blankly for a few seconds and then realization dawned on her and she said "Ooooooooh, the last time you were here I was still doing OB work... I don't do OB work anymore! I'm sorry, honey."
She thought that I was just there to CONFIRM my pregnancy. Nice.
I got some recommendations for obstetricians in the area and then she sent me on my not-so-merry way.
Lovely.
I will Google the OB she recommended after I get off of work and make my second first appointment :P.
Oi vey.

Congratulations even though you didn't get the "low-down". It can be very frustrating!
Even GP's can draw bloodwork for Beta's and progesterone. If she used to do OB she should have been a little more helpful.
i just stumbled along your blog randomly. i like it! and congratulations :)
Congratulations!!!!!!!! :) (from SITS)
